And They’ll All Be Like This: Woah!

I don’t want to write this down because my feelings are still in chaos; letting go ain’t easy, my friend. Haha! Kidding :) But yes, this might be the last time that I will be writing an update about Somedaydream (I know, I know) and I won’t miss it for the world. :)

If you had been following this blog for quite sometime now, like for a year or two, you’ll know that I had been an avid supporter of this OPM band. Everything you want to read from all my previous blog posts related to it will be found here and here. Today’s update will be something different, though. It will all be about Somedaydream songs! :D Are you ready?

In the last Sunday of June, Somedaydream gave away his last album for free! Highlight and hashtag that: #itsforfreepeople #legitdownloads #downloadnow!!!

After Tonight 2010 EP is an actualization of what Somedaydream wanted to share to the local music industry ever since. The album contains eight tracks: three new songs, three songs that came out in the past years and two covers. Let’s take a tour to each of the new songs and I’ll let you know what I thought and felt upon hearing it and digging deeper on what each of those songs meant. I had to listen to it for three nights so I can come up with this sort of album review (pa-try lang ha, hehe). I don’t have any musical knowledge, this is solely of my own opinion. :)

Call Me Crazy

Favorite Lines:

~ Your pretty eyes — no, they never fail to make me smile.

~ “What a fool!” my Muse use to call me, for saying those words when I don’t know what they meant.

~ So we can fly through the skies with fireflies. We will be gliding through the fog, we won’t be needing a ride. It’s over one day, we get to lose our way. Hey, bring back the flames tonight! (hopefully, I got this line right, I really like this)

I didn’t like the concept of the song the very first time I heard it. In my mind, the line that goes something like: All those beautiful girls they have a habit of making boys crazy is unfair! HAHA I really thought that the song is dedicated to beautiful girls only and it’s not fair for us (the more beautiful ones haha kidd)! :P Women, you are beautiful no matter, remember that.

Well, I got it all wrong. I focused on that part when the song is so much more than just it. I know, right? My emotions are malalang wala sa ayos sometimes! Sorry for my misunderstanding. :) It is a beautiful love song — wanting to rekindle a love that has gone through a fault yet stayed and was never lost. Cool, no? It is always waiting between the lines of Hope and Never Giving Up. Love should be something you are willing to fight for and at the same time discerning when to give up the fight :)

Oh, the arrangement of music (which was so good) reminded me so much of saving Princess Peach, haha, especially on this next one…

M.O.S.

Favorite Lines:
~ It’s true, I’ve been wanting to kiss you. And you know that it’s taking forever for me to finally tell you that I love you.

~ Oh sumama ka na, oh hindi naman ito mapupunta sa wala.

~ ‘Coz I’m thinking bout you, thinking of me, thinking of every possibility that you will end up with me. (this line, para sa ultimate crush mo, #ops — love it! lakas maka-teenager!)

~ Hindi naman sa saling pusa ka lang sa puso ko. Hindi naman totoo, sabi lang yun ng nanay mo. And they’ll all be like this, ‘woah’! (hello blog title! :P)

When I learned that M.O.S. stands for Make Out Session, I had to think twice about this song. And I just wanted to tell the kids (teens): no, I’m not that super older than you, but, please save yourself up for marriage and don’t make out. Do yourself a favor. If you think making out is cool and what’s uso these days, please beg to differ and respect your body. There, I said it, going back to the song! :)

The melody to the very first line Hello wants me to tie in it’s a brand new day, say hooray for today! HAHA Kidding :) the way the piano was played after the bridge is very artistic, it’s so gentle, I like it. It adds to the kilig factor of the song. What I actually adore was the mix of Tagalog lyrics on M.O.S! That was a smart move right there. You don’t expect it, it just happen. The Tagalog lyrics are right where they should be. It’s really #classic. Nakakatuwa!

Call Me Crazy and M.O.S. are light, cheerful and simply happy songs! It’s that type of music that you would want to listen to when you get busted by a guy or girl you like. It will help you smile it all away. It eases up ones mood. :)

This next song, though, is my ultimate favorite out of the new songs that Somedaydream released. I can smell pain on this one and I like it. To make things clear, I like it not because I’m happy that someone’s in pain but this song made me recognize the feeling of this kind of pain I felt before. Gets? Haha #kakalitogrammarko According to our good friend John Green, pain demands to be felt. This song demanded me to feel the pain. What is, you may ask?

After Tonight

Favorite Lines:
~ So maybe, just maybe. (ang powerful lang netong line na’to saken haha)

~ You might think that I’m not that into you, you should know that I’ve always wanted you.

~ It’s alright you won’t see me after tonight. Let’s bury our memories of you and I singing under the stars, ‘coz it won’t mean a thing to me. To you, it won’t a mean a thing to you. </3

~ You want me to want you more, but honestly, I couldn’t want you more than this.

~ And I realized that night I’m sure I got you, it’s such a shame that I got my steady arms around you but I let you slip away. </3 </3

~ And I realized your eyes will never look at me this way ‘coz you have come to keep your memories with him. (yes, this kind of pain is what I’m talking about)

This song is about an almost-love, almost-commitment, almost-forever kind of love song. Ha! It’s so sad and beautiful. It’s like, we are almost there, it’s almost love but then we had to let each other go. You just wanna flip tables and chairs, don’t you?

If I were to be in a break-up situation, I’ll listen to this song. It’s too unbearable that it will let me cry out all the pain and feel it with every muscle and heartbeat. It’ll make me feel alive.

Without Pain, how could we know Joy? (The Fault in Our Stars)

There you go, the three new songs of Somedaydream! :)

Somedaydream: First Press Release

In this age of radio stations folding and band break ups, people are yearning for the next wave in the music industry to catapult the local talent back into the mainstream.  We are constantly searching for that artist who will break new boundaries and set new trends.  For this, most music fans turn to the international underground scene of progressive indie rock and electronica just to get their fix of good music.  All this is about to change with the introduction of a new breed of OPM music.  One that sounds refreshingly different to be considered a new indie sound but still friendly enough to be blasted on all radio stations, regardless of the target demographics.

The artist touted to start surfing the wave of change is Somedaydream, a.k.a. Rez Toledo, whose first single “Hey Daydreamer” has struck radio airplay gold with every DJ excited to play a song of international quality that they can proudly say is Filipino produced.  Not to mention the
giddiness of the lady DJs who cant help but giggle and smile when they finally saw the artist in the flesh during his recent radio tour.  His good looks and boyish charm are a healthy plus to an artist who, apart from being loved by the mainstream listeners and respected by the music scene, can easily be a target for advertisers.

With the help of mentor and producer Champ Lui Pio, Somedaydream is conquering the airwaves faster than any independent artist, or even signed artist for that matter.  The catchy hook and memorable lyrics of electro pop “Hey Daydreamer” can easily get stuck in your head that you’d start Googling the song and searching for where to download it.  Well, the good news is, you will be able to, along with the rest of Somedaydream’s tracks pretty soon under the format of what is to be known as Digital Music, or music sold online.  What seems to be the most important thing to this 20-year-old Atenean is that his music is heard.  And what better way to spread music than through the internet?  So all the music fans can hold their breaths and watch the landscape of the local music scene change as Somedaydream continues to create a new shift in the tides.

Am I Artistic or What?

With my nineteen years of existence, never did I write a poem, novel, story or whatever it is that is too creative that  I may give to someone. Never. Until now.

When I first heard the “Hey Daydreamer” (HD) song, I thought, Wow. Cool. Another from a foreign artist. Well guess what? I faced the word IN YOUR FACE in all-caps, bolded, italicized and underlined for this song was from a young Filipino artist.

Weeks later, I bumped into Andi9 and Jessica’s (of the Magic Top5@5) Ustream and found myself really mesmerized by the guy behind the works of Someday Dream–the genius responsible for the HD song. *Watch his live performance at the Magic booth here!!* From then on, I kept an eye on the band’s has-whats for I surely know that there would be so much more in them now and in the future.

TRIVIA!!!

  • Rez Toledo is the guy behind the works of the song Hey Daydreamer and the one-man band, Someday Dream. He is twenty years old; a Sophomore student at the Ateneo De Manila University, taking up Management.
  • Hey Daydreamer is a song inspired by a girl he (Rez) really admired a couple of years back. If you know how to do the math, that’s how old the song is. Its Unplugged Version was released last 14th of February at the Magic Top5@5 when CJ from the Big Meal got some problems playing out at their program. Currently, the song placed the eighth spot at the Magic 30 Countdown and fourth on RX top 7  Countdown.
  • They (the Dream Team) got the name Someday Dream courtesy of Rez’s creative juices and random thoughts.
  • They’ve done a lot of radio guestings lately–Magic’s Top5@5, Jam 88.3, Magic’s Big Meal, Playtime on RX 93.1, the Drive on 99.5 RT, Wave 89.1 and surprise visits on Magic’s On Demand and Mellow 94.7.
  • Champ Lui Pio (of Hale) is helping out the band on making its name in the music industry.

Stalker or Fan? I followed him on Facebook and Twitter as well. I was really happy because the guy appreciates and keeps the fans posted. He makes it appoint to reply from all those fan concerns and comments; he sincerely shows gratitude for all the support he’s getting.

Actually, what made me really glad was this (him taking time to reply to those fan comments I’m talking about).

And so, even if I don’t wanna be one, but from the looks of it I am (one heck of a Fan!!). Here’s a song lyric (have no idea of how it would sound, yet) for the guy who inspired me to write stanzas of non-sense thoughts and verses of crazy antics. He won’t be able to read this anyways, and so, I’ll be living relieved.

You Got Me at ‘Hey’

It was a Thursday afternoon

When I saw you from across the room

I captured the time, it was exactly four

You pulled a chair and sat uncomfortably

You picked your guitar and sing a song for me

And just like that, my heart opened up the door

(chorus)

I always remember the first line of the chorus

With that dashing smile, you simply look mysterious

You got me at ‘Hey’, Mister

That’s all that I can say

I’m forever yours if you stay that way

I wrote you a letter and you gave one back

You always say my name, I don’t know how to react

‘Hope I can meet you soon’, is that what it reads?

I jumped up and down; i blushed,

Am i head over heels?

Twas then i heard your song again

(chorus)

(bridge)

I dunno how long i’ll get your sparkly-feel

In this dream, I made you sound so real

Still, it was a fun roller coaster ride

You bet, i don’t wanna leave this world behind

Then i heard it all again

(chorus)

Please stay that way

I hope you stay that way

Please?

Hey!

I genuinely hope that he’ll stay humble, cool and simple. Well yeah, Someday Dream rocks!! Woot woot!

p.s.:
I’m not really a fan.
p.p.s.:
Fine. I am. Whatever.
p.p.p.s.:
This is so hard to admit. Dang! I’m a fan.

Baby Vader, Fire Away!

Hey Day Dreamer

Someday Dream

Oh you could just pretend to be with her all day
Remember the feeling when you first held hands today
Imagine her in your favorite white dress
Smiling at you as if she thinks that you’re the best
She tell you You and me, sitting on a tree,
K-I-S-S-I-N-G. You tell her
Baby hear me out will you marry me tonight
We’re in this make believe reality
And baby it’s just you and me

Coz when tonight she holds you tight
You wonder if this fantasy is right
Coz when reality comes to play
You realize you couldn’t make her stay

Hey Daydreamer
You gotta be prepared to leave her in your fantasy
Coz when it’s over, you gotta make sure
that it’s you who’ll be with her

Oh you could be her soldier, her knight in shining armor
I’m sure you wanna make her feel how much you love her
And you wish to God that she can see the world in your eyes
So she can realize that she’s the girl in your mind
And you don’t mind if you don’t make it out alive
Coz you knew right from the start that she’s such a boy killer
(I’m dying, I’m dying~yeah)

Coz when tonight she holds you tight
You wonder if this fantasy is right
Coz when reality comes to play
You realize you couldn’t make her stay

Hey Daydreamer
You gotta be prepared to leave her in your fantasy
Coz when it’s over, you gotta make sure
that it’s you who’ll be with her

And I couldn’t believe we’re dreaming
I couldn’t believe we’re leaving this world
For one with more fantasy, just you and me
So that tonight we both can finally be
